    Preach It

During the first public hearing of the House Jan. 6 committee yesterday, Rep. Liz Cheney had words for her fellow GOPers. "Tonight, I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain."

It's the first time I've felt warmly toward a Cheney family member since I heard Liz's mother had written a novel about lesbians.

    This Week's Quote

Clearing my schedule to watch the televised January 6th hearings. Check listings. I promise to finally stop complaining about the finale of "Lost" if this new show ends the way we all know it should.

    Trump's GOP

The Republican National Committee voted today to censure GOP Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for sitting on the Jan. 6 committee. The RNC censure resolution blasts the two for "participating in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse."

So killing cops and pooping in the halls of Congress is now "legitimate political discourse."

The most popular breakout session at the next Republican National Convention will be "Expressing Your Annoyance Through Drawing and Quartering."

    The Breakdown

Yesterday in his speech on the one-year anniversary of the Capitol attack, President Joe Biden pinned responsibility for the riot on his predecessor's "web of lies about the 2020 election." The former president's "bruised ego matters more to him than our democracy or our Constitution."

That was my favorite line, because I believe it's dead-on accurate. Donald Trump is 75 percent ego, 20 percent bile, four percent Filet-O-Fish and one percent mushroom weenie.

    Mad All Over Again

As I drove home from work today, I listened to a timeline of the events of Jan. 6 presented by "All Things Considered." After just a few minutes, I became as angry as I was that day.

By the time the host read Donald Trump's sickening tweet from that evening—"These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously and viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly and unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love and in peace. Remember this day forever!"—I was swelling with rage.

Bet you've never seen a pufferfish in a Prius before.
