Today the House passed a bill banning transgender girls and women from competing in female school athletics. Every Republican voted for the "Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act," while every Democrat voted against this culture-war gift to conservatives.
Yesterday the Florida Board of Education voted to expand the state's Don't Say Gay law. The ban on classroom instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity that had applied to kindergarden through third grade will now extend clear up to senior year in high school.
But don't despair! On Monday an openly gay congressman announced that he's running for re-election.
Okay, the congressman was George Santos.
I'll allow you 15 minutes of despair.

Hell hasn't frozen over, but it's gotten noticeably nippy.
A Republican state senator in Arizona actually joined with Democrats in successfully voting to kill a bill that would've banned all gender-affirming medical procedures for minors. Furthermore, Sen. Tyler Pace said the testimony from transgender youth and their families influenced his vote.
"The testimonies we heard today about the many people who are using these avenues of medical treatments to save lives, to improve lives,” he said at a hearing. “I don’t want my vote to stop those great things."
Satan is now sporting mittens and mukluks.

The Latest in the Potty Wars
The Supreme Court today declined to wade into the issue of which school bathrooms transgender students should use. That means the appeals court victory of transgender former student Gavin Grimm still stands.
This is great news for trans kids.
It's also great news for the planners of Donald Trump's next rally. Conservative activists will seize, as usual, the opportunity to fearmonger around bathrooms. They're nothing if not toilet trained.

A Prez and an Ally
Last night, during his first address to a joint session of Congress, President Joe Biden said, “To all the transgender Americans watching at home, especially the young people who are so brave, I want you to know that your president has your back."
The next LGBTQ person who tells me there's no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans will be in for a treat: watching my head explode. In rainbow colors.
