    Jive Talkin'

Emily Hines, a student at Louisiana State University, posted a TikTok video of herself pointing to a picture of transgender health secretary Dr. Rachel Levine and lip-synching the Bee Gees lyrics "More than a woman, more than a woman to me." Hines wore an Alpha Phi sweatshirt, and the sorority, which prohibits discrimination, ultimately booted her out.

"My religious beliefs have been pushed under the rug because the social construct of gender has become such a big issue,” moaned an irate Hines. “My faith teaches me that God made male and female in his image, and that one cannot become the other."

Yes of course. Her faith. Everyone knows that publicly mocking and demeaning a person for their gender identity is precisely what Jesus would do. He said so in the Book of Ridicule.

    A Hymn to Them

What a journey it's been for the Rev. Megan Rohrer, 41, who came out as a lesbian at a Lutheran college in South Dakota.

"The people who were in my religion classes with me would sing hymns when I walked by, to try to get rid of my gay demons. And I would just sing harmony. I didn't know what to do," Rohrer remembers.

After college, Rohrer began to identify as transgender. And now they've been elected as a bishop in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the first openly trans person in the nation to achieve that status in a major Christian denomination.

I'm sure some of those hymn-singers are now seething in a most unchristian fashion.

    A Passing

The Obamas announced on social media that today they lost their dog, Bo. I felt genuinely sad at the news.

I'm not sure what emotion I'll feel when I learn of the death of Donald Trump's dog, the Republican Party.

It's heartbreaking. First Jeff Bezos gets divorced, now Bill and Melinda Gates. Who's next: Mr. Burns and Smithers?

    I Have My Priorities

The WNBA season is about to start, and I'm worried.

My team, the Seattle Storm, is the defending champion. Last fall, Storm point guard Sue Bird became engaged to soccer star Megan Rapinoe, and just recently Storm forward Breanna Stewart successfully popped the question to her girlfriend, Spanish hoopster Marta Xargay.

Will Bird and Stewart have the required fire in their bellies to repeat as champions now that they're giddy in love?

I tell you, for the first time, I'm questioning whether same-sex marriage was such a hot idea.

  • In the Navy

This picture has been popping up on Facebook this afternoon, paired with the caption "Made Naval history today with the 1st EVER all gay helicopter flight crew!"

A fabulous photo in more ways than one.

    A Prez and an Ally

Last night, during his first address to a joint session of Congress, President Joe Biden said, “To all the transgender Americans watching at home, especially the young people who are so brave, I want you to know that your president has your back."

The next LGBTQ person who tells me there's no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans will be in for a treat: watching my head explode. In rainbow colors.
